Where Ancient Egypt Meets Classic Vegas Vibes

Las Vegas is famous for its over-the-top themed resorts, and Luxor is one of the originals that still delivers a unique experience. With its iconic pyramid shape, dazzling beam of light visible from space, and Egyptian decor straight out of a Cleopatra dream, Luxor brings a different flavor to the Strip — and yes, it still has plenty of action for casino lovers like us.

Whether you’re planning your next stay or just casino-hopping down Las Vegas Boulevard, here’s your go-to guide for what to expect at Luxor Casino.

The Vibe: Bold, Themed, and a Little Nostalgic

Luxor stands out, literally. It’s shaped like a black glass pyramid, complete with a massive sphinx guarding the entrance. The inside? Think hieroglyphics meets high rollers. It’s not as shiny-new as some of the newer resorts, but that’s part of its charm. If you’re into classic Vegas with personality, Luxor delivers.

Pro tip: Take a moment to ride the inclinator, that’s the sideways-moving elevator, just to say you did.

Staying at Luxor

Luxor has a mix of standard rooms in the pyramid and more modern rooms in the tower. The pyramid rooms are quirky, slanted walls and all, but if you want the full themed experience, go for it. Tower rooms are a bit newer and more traditional. Both the pyramid and tower offer suites with a few more amenities. The tower offers one- and two-bedroom penthouse suites.

Luxor’s casino spans over 120,000 square feet, giving you room to roam.

Slots: You’ll find plenty of slot machines (over 1100), from classic 3-reel to the latest digital bells-and-whistles with huge bonuses (you know I found a few favorites).

Table Games: There are Table games galore, 62 to be exact, including blackjack, craps, roulette, and a few specialty games for when you’re feeling lucky.

MGM Sportsbook: It’s not the flashiest in town, but good for catching a game and placing a few bets with a drink in hand.

High-limit areas are available if you’re ready to level up your bets. It’s a great place to play without feeling overwhelmed.

 Food & Drinks: Surprisingly Solid

Luxor has a decent lineup of dining options, especially if you’re looking for something casual after a long session at the slots.

Dinner Delights

Public House: Great for pub food and watching sports. Public House serves tasty American and stadium comfortable food and ice-cold draft beers.

Tender Steakhouse: If you’re craving a nice meal without straying far. Tender Steakhouse offers dry- and wet-aged steaks like the coffee rubbed New York strip. If you enjoy whiskey then the Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Tasting Menu is a must for  you.

Pro Tip: Take the walkway (or the tram) over to Mandalay Bay or Excalibur for even more dining options.

Let’s Have some Fun

Relaxing: Enjoy a day at Nurture Spa & Salon. Experience our Dry Sauna, Eucalyptus Steam Room, Jacuzzis and our relaxation lounge. Nurture Salon offers hair and nail services. Let the rejuvenation begin.

Pro Tip: Home to the World’s Largest Atrium – While walking around the Luxor, gawk at the world’s largest indoor atrium and check out the sphinx and obelisk wall and then stroll out front to Las Vegas Blvd. to get a close-up of pyramid and more sphinx.

Entertainment: Some Unique Picks

Luxor is home to some long-standing shows and exhibits. Notable options:

Blue Man Group: A fun, high-energy show that still pulls in crowds. How can you pass up blue men? Always a fun show.

Titanic- The Artifact Exhibition: Surprisingly moving and well-done.

Bodies- The Exhibition: Fascinating if you’re into anatomy and a little science with your vacation. We haven’t done this, but it’s been around a long time and people do enjoy it.

Carrot Top: Enjoy the comedy of this well-known entertainer.

Play Playground: Play Playground is a playful bar. There are no VR, AR, or arcade games in this Playground. The large-scale, tactile games and attractions offer something for everybody: over-the- top physical games, memory games, puzzle games, and team games.

 Quick Tips for Visiting Luxor:

Use the tram to hop between Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Excalibur, it’s free and saves your feet.

Final Thoughts: Is Luxor Worth the Stop?

Yes, it is! Especially if you’re a fan of themed casinos or want to gamble somewhere a little different. Luxor may not be the flashiest resort on the Strip, but it holds its own with personality, a fun casino floor, and a good location on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard. If you’re combining a Vegas vacation with a little casino crawling (my favorite kind of trip), Luxor is absolutely worth a spin on the reels.

We’ve never stayed at Luxor, but we do enjoy spending a day there playing slots, enjoying all the Egyptian themed art and eating some good food!
