Top Ten Largest Casinos in U.S. – by Gaming Square Footage

Ever wonder where the largest casinos are in the United States? Believe it or not, they’re not in Las Vegas. Now there are a lot of large casino resorts in Las Vegas, but as far as square footage of the gaming area is concerned, Las Vegas doesn’t make the top Ten. We have only been to a few of these, but we would like to eventually get to all of them.

When it comes to the largest casinos in the U.S., we’re focusing solely on the square footage dedicated to gaming. While many of these resorts boast expansive meeting rooms, arenas, and shopping districts, our rankings are based purely on the casino floor space. Even though this casinos have large gaming areas they may not have other things you are looking for such as shopping areas or a spa. These are ranked only on gaming areas. Read on to learn more:

Winstar Pool

1. Winstar World Casino and Resort – Thackerville, Oklahoma. Owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation, WinStar boasts 400,000 Square feet of casino floor space, that has nine city-themed gaming plazas with over 10,000 electronic games, and 100 live table games, not including their 55-table poker room, a high stakes room, Off-track betting and bingo. There are 1,700 hotel rooms in the four-tower hotel. There is also an RV park near the casino with shuttle service. With over 20 restaurants, you’re sure to find something you enjoy. Looking for some relaxation? How about swimming at the two pools or enjoying the inviting spa. If golfing is your passion, you’re in luck, not only are there two championship golf courses, but a golf academy. There is no lack of entertainment with the 6500-seat Lucas Oil Live arena right on the property. We’ve been to quite a few casinos in Oklahoma but have never made it to this part of the state and now I’m more determined to get to this area and check out this great casino!

Foxwoods Resort Casino

2. Foxwoods Resort Casino – Mashantucket, Connecticut. Foxwoods is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and it boasts an incredible 9 million square feet of indoor space, of which 344,000 square feet are devoted to gambling. Just over 3,500 gaming machines cover the four levels of gaming, along with. 250 tables and 22 different varieties. The Poker Room has 54 live action tables. The DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods offers guests a 12,000-square-foot, two-story space to bet and play. Foxwoods High Stakes Bingo offers 30,000 square feet of event space with more than 2,200 seats.  There are 2,000 spacious rooms, including suites and villas, throughout the three hotels. There are over 50 dining options. For relaxation you can choose between two spas or go swimming at The Fox Tower pool, which is outdoors with eight private poolside cabanas. Grand Pequot Tower pool is indoor and heated. Guests must be staying at Grand Pequot Tower Hotel to use. If that isn’t enough, there are tons of activities to keep you busy: golfing, go karts, bowling, escape rooms, other games, ride a zipline, hike or visit the art museum. Want to do some shopping? There is a Tanger outlet right on the property. There is an arcade for family fun and 3 entertainment venues. I do believe that you won’t get bored here!

Choctaw -Durant Casino Resort

3.Choctaw Casino Resort – Durant, Oklahoma. Owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, this resort offers 219,000 square feet of casino floor space, with 7,400 gaming machines. Choctaw Casino Durant’s floor space is also packed with 100 Table games, and a 30-table poker room and racebook. There are three hotel towers with 1,700 rooms. Among the resort’s 20 restaurants is the popular Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar. There are two pools: one family-friendly and fully equipped with two waterslides, and the other an exclusive, adult-only pool. If you want to get away from the gaming action for awhile you can visit the spa, go shopping, see a movie, hit the arcade or take a tour of the art walk with over 6000 art pieces. Spend your evening enjoying live shows at the Grand Theater and Gilley’s. There is also an RV park for your convenience. This is another casino that I have wanted to go to for a long time, hopefully we’ll get there soon!

Mohegan Sun

4. Mohegan Sun – Uncasville, Connecticut. Owned and operated by the Mohegan Tribe you will find 299,000 square feet of casino floor offering 4,000 slot machines and a whopping 300 table games and a 33-table poker room. There’s also the new FanDuel Sportsbook and Race Book. Mohegan Sun’s two hotel towers provide just over 1,200 hotel rooms and a spa in each tower. You won’t be hungry with over 45 restaurants. Enjoy some time shopping at the 36 shops or get- away for a round of golf. There is a large convention space with the Uncas Ballroom, if you’re looking to hold a conference. There are three entertainment venues including a 10,000-seat Arena; a 350-seat Cabaret Theatre and a 300-seat Wolf Den. Before you leave, be sure to fill up at the Mohegan Sun Mobil Gas Station & Convenience Store, which features twenty full-service and self-service islands.

Yaamava Resort & Casino

5. Yaamava Resort & Casino – Highland, California. The San Manuel Entertainment Authority (“SMEA”) wholly owns and operates this 290,000 square feet Resort & Casino. Most casinos brag about having a high-limit room, Yaamava Resort & Casino has five and boasts 7400 slot machines and 150 table games, The hotel is a 17-story tower with 432 rooms. You’ll have plenty of choices when you get hungry with over 10 restaurants and just as many bars and lounges. Spend a day at the spa or relax by the pool, hit the fitness center or do some shopping. See at show at the Yaamava Theater or TuKut Lounge to add some excitement to your evening. I’m hoping to get here soon, as we really like The Palms in Las Vegas which is also a San Manuel casino.

Riverwind Casino

6. Riverwind Casino – Norman, Oklahoma. Owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation Riverwind Casino, is a remarkable 287,000 square feet of attractions including more than 2,800 electronic games, 19 table games, a poker room,  and off-track betting. The hotel offers 100 guest rooms where you will be greeted with fresh baked cookies (they are really tasty!). There is a decent selection of eateries and a couple bars for your entertainment. You may also want to take in a show at the Showplace Theater. We stayed here on one of our Oklahoma trips and really enjoyed it. The extra touch of a treat on the pillow in the hotel was just something you remember.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort

7. Thunder Valley Casino Resort – Lincoln, California. Thunder Valley Casino Resort owned by the United Auburn Indian Community, has over 250,000 square feet of gaming space. There are more than 3400 slot machines, 110 table games and a 27-table (expanding to 50 tables) Poker room. The luxurious hotel offers more than 400 rooms. The 14 restaurants and bars are sure to keep your hunger pangs away. Enjoy the outdoor pool, spa and fitness center when you’re not gambling. The Venue at Thunder Valley is the region’s newest and most exciting entertainment destination featuring 4500 seats.

Seminole Hard Rock- Tampa

8. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa – Tampa Bay, Florida. All Hard Rock properties are owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Hard Rock Tampa is 245,000 square feet with just under 5,000 slots along with 180 table games and a 46-table poker room. The 12-story hotel tower houses 240 contemporary guestrooms. Take some time away from gambling and enjoy the Rock spa or take a swim in one of the three pools. There are plenty of choices to grab some food. Enjoy a show at the 1500-seat Hard Rock Event Center. There is plenty here to keep you entertained. I always thought the huge guitar was really cool which is one of the reasons I want to get here one day!

Soaring Eagle Casino Resort

9.  Soaring Eagle Casino Resort – Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Owned and operated by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation, it offers 210,000 square feet of gaming floor. There are over 3,300 slot machines and 70 table games, with a 14-table poker room and bingo hall.  The Soaring Eagle’s 560 hotel rooms recently underwent renovation. With a nice variety of restaurants, including Ruth Chris Steakhouse, and a few bars, you’re sure not to go hungry. They also have a convenience store and 2 gift shops if you forgot something or want a souvenir. While your kids go play at Kid Quest or Cyber Quest, you can enjoy some spa time. Afterwards, head to the pool and take a dip. For some entertainment, there is an entertainment venue with many popular acts.  There is something for everyone here.

Margaritaville- River Spirit Casino Resort

10. River Spirit Casino Resort – Tulsa, OK With its 200,000 square feet, including Margaritaville Casino, this Muscogee (Creek) Nation owned and operated resort is a special place. It offers 3,500 electronic gaming game machines, 60 table games, and a modest 14-table poker room. There’s also a high-stakes room. The luxurious 483-room hotel rises 27 stories into the sky with great views of the Arkansas River and River Walk. With its 6 restaurants and a few bars you will be sure to find some great food. Our favorite by far was Margaritaville, who can resist BOGO margaritas? And the food is good too! Relax at Emerge Spa and Salon or enjoy the sun at tropical themed pool and bar area. If you’re looking for a place to hold a conference, then you’re in luck with the their 30,000 sq. Ft. meeting and convention center. Grab a show at The Cove, a 2500-seat arena. This is one of Tulsa’s most popular concert venues. This is one of our favorite casinos to visit when we are in Oklahoma, it’s lots of fun!

*Disclaimer: After much research these are the ones I found. Native American casinos aren’t required to make their information public, so there may some that are larger, but these 10 are the ones I found and could verify.

Conclusion

These casinos are not only the largest in terms of gaming space but also offer a variety of amenities and entertainment options, making them destinations spots in their own right.  There are so many casinos in the United States all of which have their own charm. When trying to find a casino to visit, consider what is most important to you. Are you looking for somewhere to go on vacation, then you should look at the resorts in the area you are traveling. Whether you’re looking for a resort to go on vacation or a place for a fun night to gamble, casinos in the United States have become much more than just a place to pull an arm on a slot machine.

We’ve only been to two on this list, but I hope to get to most or all of them someday. One of our favorite places to go on a “casino vacation” is Oklahoma.
