The Palms Casino Resort isn’t usually the first name that comes up when folks are hunting for a hotel in Las Vegas. It’s not on the Strip, it’s just west of, and that alone has some people asking, “Why should I stay at the Palms?”

Well, after spending two nights there ourselves, we’ve got answers. Here’s a detailed look at what you can expect, what we loved, and what we’d do differently next time.

Hotel Rooms & Accommodations

The Palms delivers a wide range of accommodations; from stylish Signature Rooms to extravagant Sky Villas. You’ll also find Fantasy and Ivory Suites, plus some seriously over-the-top Experiential Suites featuring private bowling alleys, basketball courts, home theaters, and beauty bars. Every room offers either a city or mountain view.

There’s also Palms Place, a quieter, condo-style tower with its own entrance, but still full access to all the main resort perks.

Our Stay: The Ivory Suite

We lucked into an upgrade at check-in and took it. The suite had two bathrooms (only one with a shower, but it was plenty spacious), robes and slippers, and a fantastic view of Downtown Las Vegas and the surrounding mountains. The bedroom was cozy, and we appreciated the separate living room setup with TVs in both rooms.

However, not everything was a hit, the living room furniture wasn’t very comfortable, and the carpet design was… interesting. If we splurge on a suite again, we’d go for the Fantasy Suite instead. It just looks more inviting.

Fantasy Tower

Update: We went back to the Palms and although we didn’t get a suite we did stay in the Fantasy tower and you can see by the picture, the furniture was much better here.

Casino & Gaming

The Palms has a 95,000-square-foot casino, and it doesn’t disappoint.

Slot Machines: Over 1,800 machines with a solid variety. Even on a busy weekend, we rarely had to wait for a game we liked. Wins went up and down, as usual, but hey, we came home with some cash left.

Table Games: More than 50, covering all the classics like blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker.

High Limit Room: For high rollers, there are six table games and premium slot machines.

William Hill Sportsbook: One of the better sportsbooks we’ve seen. Massive video wall (36’ x 9’), comfy seating, and even a row of slot machines right behind the chairs so you can multitask in true Vegas style.

*Pro Tip: Don’t forget to grab a Club Serrano player’s card. You’ll earn discounts on food, shopping, and room rates, not to mention free play.

Dining at the Palms

From quick eats to fancy fare, the Palms has you covered.

Quick Bites:

McDonald’s, Panda Express, Earl of Sandwich, and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the food court.

Casual Sit-Down:

A.Y.C.E. Buffet: Seven globally inspired food stations. Great for breakfast, dinner, or a leisurely brunch. With your player’s card, you can earn 2 free brunch buffets, so be sure to play with your card. We did this and enjoyed it very much.

Serrano Vista Café: Comfort food with a twist. Try the Curry chicken or Mahi-Mahi tacos. Bonus: breakfast is served all day.

Palms Pizza: Classic East Coast-style slices or whole pies.

Send Noodles: Asian cuisine with generous portions and bold flavors. We didn’t eat here, but those ramen bowls looked massive.

Laguna Pool House & Kitchen: Chill by the pool with indoor or outdoor dining.

Upscale Dining:

Scotch 80 Prime: A top-tier steakhouse with dry-aged and Wagyu options. We splurged here and it was worth every bite. Excellent service and generous portions. Highly recommend it if you want to splurge a little.

Vetri Cucina: Located on the 56th floor with jaw-dropping views. Creative Italian cuisine and perfect for a romantic night out.

Tim Ho Wan: A Michelin-recognized spot for dim sum lovers. Must-try dishes include steamed pork ribs and dumplings.

Amenities & Experiences

Palms Pool: Cabanas, daybeds, and the pool island make this a standout. Nevada locals can reserve cabanas free (except Saturdays), which is a sweet deal.

Laguna Pool: At Palms Place, with a quieter, laid-back vibe.

Spa at the Palms: 17,000 square feet of Zen. Yoga, massages, facials, and more across three levels.

Speakeasy Barbershop: A hidden gem for cuts, shaves, and scalp treatments.

Extras:

Brenden Theatres: Luxury recliners and a full bar in a newly renovated movie theater.

Shopping: Grab essentials or souvenirs at 1891 Boutique, S.I.F. (Stuff I Forgot), or Palms Place Boutique.

Art Collection: Scattered throughout the resort, the art is bold, modern, and selfie-ready.

Entertainment & Nightlife

The Pearl Theater: A solid concert venue that hosts big-name acts and comedy shows.

Ghostbar: With views from every direction: Downtown, the Strip, Red Rock, Allegiant Stadium, it’s one of the best rooftop lounges in town. Sadly, it wasn’t open during our visit (closed Sundays and Mondays), but it’s on our list for next time.

Why Stay at the Palms?

Off-Strip location means fewer crowds, quicker Uber pickups, and easier access to highways (a major perk in Vegas traffic).

Incredible suites you won’t find anywhere else, some with bowling alleys or basketball courts!

Foodie heaven: From celebrity-chef BBQ to high-end steak and dim sum.

All the perks without the Strip chaos.

Final Thoughts

The Palms may fly under the radar, but don’t overlook it. It’s spacious, modern, and has a little something for everyone, without the overwhelming crowds of Strip resorts. Whether you’re in it for the food, the pool scene, the unique rooms, or the casino action, this resort delivers a full Vegas experience with its own twist. We’d absolutely consider staying again, especially if we land another suite upgrade!

We pass on information and tips we learn along the way so you can make more informed decisions when planning your trips. We hope to inspire you to find your adventures, have fun, and make lots of memories.
